Program Description
Rockhurst University offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA or BBA) – a business degree that arms you with the best in business acumen, leadership expertise and ethical decision-making skills.
What is Business Administration?
From overseeing business operations to team management, business admins have a wide range of jobs. Many who receive a bachelor of science in business administration go on to become managers or c-suite officers in whichever companies they work at, as they have great knowledge of all aspects of a business.
Our bachelor of business administration degree will give you a solid understanding of the role businesses plays in society – from its history, impact on individuals, economic impact, and the social responsibilities that come along with it. Here, we’re all about real-world experience, real-world examples of business administration and management so that after you graduate, you’ll be able to use these business and managerial skills to do better business.
Bachelor of business administration students complete two innovative sequences as part of the business administration degree core curriculum:
- Professional readiness sequence
- Technology and predictive analytics sequence
These sequences were developed by the Helzberg School of Management based on market research and consultation with hiring managers at area companies. We did this because we wanted to make our business degree in Kansas City as appealing as possible to these corporations. You can also pursue Excel certifications as part of your studies – another feather in your cap as you look ahead toward business administration jobs on the horizon.
And we can’t forget to mention one of the most important reasons why you should earn your business degree in Kansas City’s Rockhurst University: The Helzberg School of Management is AACSB accredited. This is the highest level of accreditation and one achieved by only five percent of business schools in the world. Learning Outcomes
Graduates who earn a bachelor of business administration from Kansas City’s Rockhurst University will be able to demonstrate:
- Leadership: Graduates exhibit skills in personal responsibility, awareness of self and others, ability to work effectively in groups, and the ability to foster positive team dynamics.
- Ethical Behavior and Corporate Social Responsibility: Graduates identify and analyze personal ethical problems to propose and defend an appropriate course of action, and identify and analyze issues in corporate social responsibility to propose and defend an appropriate course of action
- Business Skills and Knowledge: Graduates define, describe and demonstrate foundational business knowledge.
- International/Global: Graduates integrate relevant cultural, social, political, historical, geographic and environmental factors into the analysis of business issues and the development of an appropriate course of action.
- Information Analysis and Application: Graduates identify, access and analyze relevant quantitative and qualitative information to develop, select and evaluate appropriate courses of action.
- Communication: Graduates produce and deliver effective written products and oral communications in a variety of contexts using effective technologies.

- Internships: Rockhurst University’s Career Services helps students search for internships consistent with their business administration and management interests.
- Real-world Collaboration: At the Helzberg School of Management, “the real world” doesn’t wait until after graduation. Students work with local, regional and national companies in class.
- Networking: Students have endless opportunities to network with prospective employers through Helzberg School of Management and Rockhurst University Career Services events such as Leadership and Ethics Day, Dinner with the Industry, and Meet the Firms.
- Magis Leaders Program: Students have the opportunity to apply for a year-long, enhanced professional readiness program. With their mentor from the community, each student in the program will assess and adjust their personal and professional skills to enhance their performance in organizational settings, from business management at multinational companies to small business administration locally.
- Capstone Project: Students complete their bachelor's education by developing a complete business concept responding to a social need that they identify.
