Being an all-star athlete is not the only path to a career in sports. The sport management major prepares students interested in working for a sports team, recreational organizations, colleges or universities for the job of their dreams.
Program Overview
Students taking the sport management major are encouraged to pursue a minor aligned with their goals to enhance their professional qualifications. Nonprofit leadership studies, business, journalism and communication are among many suitable choices.
A minor in sport management is also available.

All students in the sport management major are required to successfully complete a full-time one-semester internship. Through 400 hours of hands-on experience in a sport management setting, students put their coursework to use, learn new skills and make professional connections to prepare them for a successful career.
Rockhurst students have completed internships at a variety of agencies, such as:
