Program Description
The goal of the Interdisciplinary Environmental Studies Minor is to facilitate the development of environmentally aware and responsible citizens. The Interdisciplinary Environmental Studies minor seeks to prepare students to direct their knowledge and skills toward urgent environmental issues, to diagnose complex problems from multiple perspectives and to make choices based on values beyond economic efficiency. Students will employ knowledge, critical thinking, and values consistent with the Catholic and Jesuit traditions to make choices for the good of the environment and to advocate for environmental justice for human beings and all living creatures.

- Understand that the environment has both a natural and human cultural component,
- Develop a broad understanding of multi-dimensional environmental issues, their causes, and their consequences,
- Integrate knowledge and abilities across multiple disciplines when considering environmental issues and their solutions,
- Develop the ability to make environmentally responsible choices in their personal and professional lives.
