The vital connections between nations and the interdependence of all peoples make understanding of foreign cultures critical and a mark of the educated person. Appreciation and respect for other cultures and the ability to communicate with the people of those cultures and sensitivity to issues of international social justice merit development.
Through our language courses, the Modern Languages and Literature Department provides students with the opportunity to learn how to speak to others in their native tongue and to gain knowledge about their customs. Because Rockhurst University's mission includes learning for life and high intellectual standards, we also encourage study and service learning experiences abroad.
