There are two steps to complete your free application:
M.Ed Entry Requirements
Before you apply, we ask that you review and complete the following requirements:
- Complete a baccalaureate degree at an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. Submit all official transcripts from all institutions attended including final transcripts at degree-granting institutions show your degree was conferred.
- Submit your graduate program application, including two letters of professional recommendations addressing your potential to serve as a teacher, along with a written essay describing your academic background, professional goals, and reasons for pursuing your M.Ed.
- If you are an international student, the following is required:
- English proficiency: TOEFL - Internet-based minimum score of 80, or iTEP score of 3.9 (Scores must be within the last two years), or proof of graduating from a college or high school where English is the primary mode of instruction. Transfer applicants who have or are currently studying at a college or university in the United States for at least one full academic year and having a record of strong academic performance (for example: receiving a grade of a B or above in at least two college-level credit-bearing courses in English, Composition, or Literature).
- Provide an Official Statement of Finances/ Financial affidavit directly from a bank or financial institution.
- Official undergraduate academic credentials, translated into English if necessary. Rockhurst recommends Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) or World Education Services(WES) and requires a "course-by-course" report.
- International students must be responsible for the payment of their entire education. United States laws prevent international students from having jobs in the U.S. at any time during their time as students.
Upon graduation, M.Ed. students need to have a minimum cumulative graduate GPA of 3.0, as well as a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all education courses, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all content courses.
Ed.D Entry Requirements
- Complete a baccalaureate degree at an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Submit all official transcripts from all institutions attended including final transcripts at degree-granting institutions show your degree was conferred.
- Submit your graduate program application, including three letters of professional recommendations, along with a written personal statement describing your academic background, professional goals, and reasons for pursuing your Ed.D.
- Within your graduate education application, there were also be a required research statement to describe what kind of research projects you may be interested in.
- If you are an international student, the following is required:
- English proficiency: TOEFL - Internet-based minimum score of 80, or iTEP score of 3.9 (Scores must be within the last two years), or proof of graduating from a college or high school where English is the primary mode of instruction. Transfer applicants who have or are currently studying at a college or university in the United States for at least one full academic year and having a record of strong academic performance (for example: receiving a grade of a B or above in at least two college-level credit-bearing courses in English, Composition, or Literature).

Graduate Certificate Entry Requirements
- Complete a baccalaureate degree at an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale. Submit all official transcripts from all institutions attended including final transcripts at degree-granting institutions show your degree was conferred.
- Submit your graduate program application.
- If you are an international student, the following is required:

Please note, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Rule 5 CSR 80-800.400 procedure for potential candidates for Missouri certificate of license to teach with a criminal history to petition the State Board of Education for background clearance states: Potential candidates for a Missouri certificate of license to teach who are currently enrolled in professional education courses in conjunction with state-approved teacher preparation programs may petition the State Board of Education (board) for provisional clearance of their background, enabling possible issuance of a Missouri certificate of license to teach upon completion of their teacher preparation program and pursuant to the rules promulgated by the board.
