There are two steps to complete your free application:
M.Ed Entry Requirements
Before you apply, we ask that you review and complete the following requirements:
- Complete a baccalaureate degree at an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. Submit all official transcripts from all institutions attended, including final transcripts from degree-granting institutions, showing that your degree was conferred.
- Submit your graduate program application, including two letters of professional recommendations addressing your potential to serve as a teacher, along with a written essay describing your academic background, professional goals, and reasons for pursuing your M.Ed.
- International Applicants: All graduate programs offered by the Education Department (M.Ed. and Ed.D.) are fully online. As a result, international applicants cannot receive F-1 visas or travel to the U.S. for these programs. However, prospective students with other visa types that do not require face-to-face courses may enroll. Please inquire with international@rockhurst.edu to confirm eligibility.
Upon graduation, M.Ed. students need to have a minimum cumulative graduate GPA of 3.0, as well as a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all education courses, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all content courses.
Ed.D Entry Requirements
- Complete a baccalaureate degree at an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Submit all official transcripts from all institutions attended, including final transcripts from degree-granting institutions, showing that your degree was conferred.
- Submit your graduate program application, including three letters of professional recommendations, along with a written personal statement describing your academic background, professional goals, and reasons for pursuing your Ed.D.
- Within your graduate education application, there was also a required research statement to describe what kind of research projects you may be interested in.
International Applicants: All graduate programs offered by the Education Department (M.Ed. and Ed.D.) are fully online. As a result, international applicants cannot receive F-1 visas or travel to the U.S. for these programs. Graduate Certificate Entry Requirements
- Complete a baccalaureate degree at an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale. Submit all official transcripts from all institutions attended, including final transcripts from degree-granting institutions, showing that your degree was conferred.
- Submit your graduate program application.

Please note, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Rule 5 CSR 80-800.400 procedure for potential candidates for Missouri certificate of license to teach with a criminal history to petition the State Board of Education for background clearance states: Potential candidates for a Missouri certificate of license to teach who are currently enrolled in professional education courses in conjunction with state-approved teacher preparation programs may petition the State Board of Education (board) for provisional clearance of their background, enabling possible issuance of a Missouri certificate of license to teach upon completion of their teacher preparation program and pursuant to the rules promulgated by the board.
