- About
The France Program is open to all majors. Earn 6 hours of academic credit toward your degree while studying at the University of Rennes II and visiting Paris and other sites. Rennes, 2 hours by train from Paris, is the capital of Bretagne and hosts "Les Tombées de la Nuit" a Celtic based festival which is integrated into the academic language program at the university!
Attractions
"Rennes Métropole, la diversité patrimoniale d'une cité bimillénaire, l'effervescence créative d'une ville capitale." (Metropolitan Rennes, the patrimony of a two thousand year city, the effervescence of a capital city)
Rennes is a lively university town with a relaxed Breton spirit. Visit the old part of the city, the plazas, Cathedral, the Fine Arts Museum, and the Jardin du Thabor, one of the most beautiful gardens in France. Paris attractions include outstanding art museums such as the Louvre, the Musée d'Orsay, churches such as the Cathedral of Notre Dame and Sainte-Chapelle, historical sites such as the tomb of Napoleon and the Arc de Triomphe as well as particular areas of the city with regional charm, including the student-populated Latin Quarter and Montmartre, where you can see artists at work.
Excursions
Excursions are organized to visit famous sites and regions, such as Mont-St- Michel, a fortified island with an abbey overlooking Brittany and Normandy, and the Broceliande Forest, with countless connections to King Arthur and his knights. Famous sites in Paris will also be visited.
