The France Program is open to all majors. Earn six hours of academic credit toward your degree while studying at the University of Rennes II and visiting Paris and other sites. Rennes, 2 hours by train from Paris, is the capital of Bretagne and hosts "Les Tombées de la Nuit" a Celtic-based festival that is integrated into the academic language program at the University!
Attractions

Rennes is a lively university town with a relaxed Breton spirit. Visit the old part of the city, the plazas, Cathedral, the Fine Arts Museum, and the Jardin du Thabor, one of the most beautiful gardens in France. Paris attractions include outstanding art museums such as the Louvre, and the Musée d'Orsay, churches such as the Cathedral of Notre Dame and Sainte-Chapelle, historical sites such as the tomb of Napoleon and the Arc de Triomphe as well as particular areas of the city with regional charm, including the student-populated Latin Quarter and Montmartre, where you can see artists at work.
Excursions
Excursions are organized to visit famous sites and regions, such as Mont-St-Michel, a fortified island with an abbey overlooking Brittany and Normandy, and the Broceliande Forest, with countless connections to King Arthur and his knights. Famous sites in Paris will also be visited.
Credit Courses
Intermediate and Advanced level classes will be taken in Rennes from July 3-21. There is no beginner's level this year, so contact the director immediately about signing up for French class before departure.
Financial Aid
Financial aid may be available; inquire at the Admission and Financial Aid Office. Please contact the program director for cost, which varies from year to year. It is important to contact the director immediately as flights may be booked early and a place/ program price cannot be guaranteed after the deposit deadline. If you have missed the deadline, contact the director immediately for information.
Living & Travel Arrangements
Students will stay in a residence hall in Rennes with a shared bathroom/shower/facilities. Lodging in Paris will be arranged according to the size of the group. Travel ID cards for international travel (ISIC) are available in Van Ackeren 215, Ext. 4579. Two passport-size photos, $22 and a college ID are needed.
