Rockhurst University recognizes that quitting tobacco use is a personal choice and can be a significant challenge. The University is committed to assisting members of our community in their tobacco cessation efforts. Tobacco cessation programs are an integral component in implementing this policy.

Blue Cross Blue Shield “A Healthier You” program
This program offers free telephone tobacco cessation to BCBS members through Trestle Tree. A $10 monthly fee is charged to non-members.

ExpressScripts
Select smoking-cessation medications are available through the RU Prescription Drug program with a prescription from your physician. Covered medications include: Bupropion SR (generic)-formulary and Chantix-formulary, nicotine replacement gum and patches. Sponsored by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, and provided by the American Cancer Society, this quit line offers screening, counseling, support materials and referrals for tobacco cessation assistance (based on an individual’s readiness to quit).
