Clinical Instructor Handbook
The Clinical Instructor Handbook is a reference that is made available to all Center Coordinators of Clinical Education at the start of each student internship. We request the handbook be forwarded to all assigned Clinical Instructors. The CI Handbook includes information relevant to clinical instructors, including current policies specific to clinical education and information on student requirements and performance on internships. The CI handbook also includes information about our entire curriculum and a clinical education calendar. Finally, the handbook provides a suggested progression of student activities/responsibilities during a 3rd year 10-week internship with sample goals.

To evaluate students on full-time internships (3 weeks or longer), Clinical Instructors are required to complete online free training on the web-based Clinical Performance Instrument (CPIweb) through the APTA Learning Center. Please allow approximately two hours to complete the training and take the post-test. Once you complete the training successfully once, you should be able to access any student CPIweb evaluation that you are assigned. See the PT CPI Training Quick Guide for specific directions on how to purchase the free course through the learning center.
