Collection Development Policy
Information pertaining to the library's collection development policy as it relates to a mission, objectives, selection and selection criteria, gifts, library collection, format, weeding and intellectual freedom.
Donations to the Library Policy
Greenlease Library conditionally accepts gifts. The Library Director, or his or her appointee, is free to decline and/or dispose of gifts if they do not align with the mission of the library or duplicate materials already owned. The library acknowledges all gifts, but no appraised value is given. The library refers donors asking for appraisals to utilize third parties, as well as the instructions for IRS form 8283. Memorial gifts are encouraged by the library. The staff will work with donors to select materials appropriate for the library and person being commemorated.
Government Documents Collection Development Policy
This library is a congressionally designated depository for U.S. Government documents. Public access to the government documents collection is guaranteed by public law. (Title 44 United States Code) The United States government established the Government Printing Office (GPO) Depository Program in 1895. Rockhurst Greenlease Library was designated a senatorial class depository library in 1917. US Government Printing Office FDsys - GPO's Federal Digital System (FDsys) provides public access to government information submitted by Congress and federal agencies and preserves it as technology changes.
