Racial bias remains a constant obstacle in our society, while deeply rooted assumptions about gender identities continue to fuel conflict, especially in recent years. Elle Lett, Ph.D., is a statistician-epidemiologist and a physician in training at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and a senior fellow at the Center for Applied Transgender Studies whose research and practice is dedicated to measuring and mitigating the health impacts of systemic racism, transphobia and other forms of discrimination.
