Biography
Ketti Johnson Coffelt, OTD, is an assistant professor of occupational therapy education in the College of Health and Human Services. She teaches OT practice knowledge and pediatric content specific to early intervention, school-based and vocational areas.
Coffelt engages in research in community practice areas examining adaptive interventions. She is currently investigating the impact of a pressure garment on sensory behaviors of students with autism while engaged in school tasks to understand the clinical use of this adaptive approach as an intervention. Additionally, she is interested in professional development and competency of school-based practitioners.
Recent publications include a peer-reviewed journal article in the Open Journal of Occupational Therapy (OJOT) focused on Continuing Competence Trends of Occupational Therapists. Coffelt was an associate editor and co-author of two chapters for the book Pediatric Therapy: An Interprofessional Framework for Practice published in February 2018.
She currently serves the occupational therapy profession as an advisory member for the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) educational program at Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley. Coffelt provides professional education development to school-based occupational therapists in the region covering current evidence for assessments, interventions and service delivery approaches.
