Women’s Soccer: No. 7 Hawks improve record to 12-1-3
Junior midfielder Katie Kujawa scored two goals to lead seventh-ranked Rockhurst to a 6-1 win at Missouri S&T on Sunday in Rolla, Mo. Kujawa scored her goals in the 73rd minute and 88th minute.
Rockhurst, 12-1-3 overall, moved into a tie for second place with William Jewell in the GLVC with a 10-1-3 conference record. The Hawks close out the regular season at Jewell on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
The Hawks scored their last four goals in the final 18 minutes of the game. Nicky Alfonsin scored the go-ahead goal in the 52nd minute. Caroline Brandt and Kasey Lierz also netted goals in the final 16 minutes. Taylor Skala scored her team-high 10th goal to the tie the score in the fifth minute.
Rockhurst outshot the Lady Miners 20-4. Alfonsin led the Hawks with four shots. RU’s Lucy Sullivan made one save in goal.
On Friday, the Hawks suffered their first loss of the season, falling to Drury 2-0 at RU’s Bourke Field. Drury scored in the 13th minute to take a 1-0 halftime lead. The Lady Panthers added their second goal in the 67th minute.
The Hawks outshot Drury 20-11. Skala led Rockhurst with five shots and two shots on goal. Kujawa and Julia Bartolacci both finished with three shots. Sullivan made three saves.
