Men’s Basketball: Rockhurst falls to 11th-ranked Indianapolis
Indianapolis held off Rockhurst down the stretch to post an 86-74 win over the Hawks Saturday at RU’s Mason-Halpin Field House. Behind a 12-2 run, the 11th-Greyhounds grabbed a 16-point lead after Rockhurst pulled within six points, 73-67, with 3:25 left to play.
Rockhurst shot 60 percent from the field in the second half to finish 50 percent for the game. Indianapolis made 52.9 percent of its field goals, including 10-of-24 from 3-point range. The Greyhounds, who led by 24 points in the first half, took a 44-28 lead into halftime.
Brandon McCann finished with a team-high 16 points. Cooper Beckett posted a career-high 14 points. James Robinson collected 12 points and Michael Osepa scored a career-high 10 points.
The Hawks, 1-8 and 0-2 in the GLVC, travel to Wisconsin-Parkside on Thursday.
Saint Joseph's 72, Rockhurst 70 (Jan. 3)
Rockhurst suffered a 72-70 loss to Saint Joseph’s in the Hawks’ conference opener at Mason-Halpin. James Robinson’s potential game-winning 3-point shot was blocked in the final seconds. Robinson tied the score at 70-70 with a three-point play with 1:10 left to play. SJC’s Damon Ellison Jr. broke the tie with a 12-foot bank shot with six seconds left.
Robinson led the Hawks with 21 points. McCann collected 16 points and four assists. Logan Souder added 12 points and six rebounds. Beckett posted a team-high eight rebounds.
