Rockhurst University Appoints New Head of Enrollment
Rockhurst University has appointed Matt Ellis associate vice president for enrollment services effective July 18. As a member of the president’s cabinet, Ellis will direct all student recruitment strategies for undergraduate and graduate programs.
“Matt brings significant experience in recruitment and admissions services from small, private, liberal arts institutions to 'mega' public institutions,” said Doug Dunham, Ph.D., vice president for academic affairs. “In all instances, Matt demonstrated an ability to successfully recruit students using innovation, data and technology without losing the sense of mission and community that is important to all.”
Ellis most recently served as executive director of admission services at Arizona State University where he oversaw more than 120 staff members responsible for recruitment, application processing, marketing and communications, events and operations across all ASU campuses. Prior to joining ASU, he held admission positions at William Jewell College and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
“Through working in educational settings of varied sizes, I can uniquely understand how small institutions with limited resources can strategize like large schools without losing their intimate sense of community,” Ellis said. “I’m eager to bring this approach to Rockhurst, which prizes care for the whole person as one of its core values.”
Ellis holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and serves on the advisory boards of the National Research Center for College and University Admissions and Ruffalo Noel Levitz.
