Wines for Spring with Doug Frost ($50 per person ticketed event with food pairings)

The Friends of the Rockhurst University Library invite you to attend a special evening with Doug Frost, local Kansas City author and one of only four people in the world to have achieved the remarkable distinctions of Master Sommelier and Master of Wine. Doug will be sharing with us his favorite picks for spring celebrations at this special event. There will be six wines to taste—each paired with specially prepared small “bite” by Rockhurst University’s executive chef. Participants will sample the following (please note that the menu is subject to change due to availability of some items):

 

Pazo das Bruxas Albariño 2020 Rias Baixas, Spain (paired with a California Roll Stack with crab, avocado, cucumbers, shaved carrots and soy ponzu)

Terredora di Paolo Falanghina Corte di Giso 2020 Irpinia, Italy (paired with a smoked salmon crudo served with heirloom tomatoes, sliced thin jalapenos, on a bed of baby mixed greens and a lemon avocado vinaigrette)

 Echolands Winery Syrah 2019 Walla Walla Valley (paired with baked Brie cheese with mixed berries and bread and cracker assortment)

 Chateau Puy-Blanquet 2014 St-Emilion Grand Cru (paired with a braised beef short rib with olive oil potato pancake with red wine reduction sauce and “micro” basil)

 Pfeffingen Estate Riesling Dry (paired with a strawberry ricotta bruschetta crostini with Meyer lemon ricotta and Riesling poached strawberries with a quince balsamic reduction

Fèlsina Berardenga 2019 Chianti Classico (paired with a dark chocolate mousse with raspberry reduction sauce chocolate shavings and whipped cream)
