When can I start the program?
We have 4 entry points throughout the year for this program. New classes begin in January, March, August, and October.
When do classes meet?
On-campus classes meet one night a week from about 5:30 - 9:00 pm. Most classes will meet in Conway Hall. Most online classes include weekly assignments to be completed within a specified window of time.
What is the admission process?
Requirements include a completed application, official transcripts from your bachelor's degree-granting institution and a professional resume.
Do I need to submit a GMAT or GRE score for admission?
A GMAT or GRE score is not required.
How long will it take to complete the certificate?
The certificate requires 12 credit hours of coursework. In most cases, this means 4, 3 credit-hour classes completed in about 15 months. Some certificate tracks require prerequisites, which may be waived with prior coursework.

Why should I invest in a certificate program?
The Graduate Certificate focuses on specific areas that students may further pursue. Certificates are designed for graduates who are either changing industries or responsibilities OR would like to enhance their graduate education with up to date information.
Am I able to participate in networking events and utilize career services?
All students in our graduate business programs are invited to participate in the many networking opportunities offered each year and are able to utilize the on-campus career services department.
Am I able to use the alumni discount?
With a Rockhurst graduate degree, you are able to take graduate and undergraduate classes with the alumni discount. If you have an undergraduate degree from Rockhurst you may only take undergraduate courses using the discount. More information about the alumni discount program may be found here.
How does the alumni discount program work?
The alumni discount programs allows students to take 1 class each semester at a reduced tuition cost. The half-off tuition price is per semester or 3 classes a year, not per 8 week term. Students will complete an alumni discount form with the adviser and are able to register for a class two weeks before the class begins if space is available. If the class is full, students using the alumni discount will be unable to register. Alumni discounted courses must be paid for on the day of registration and are not eligible to be covered with federal student loans.
When can I start the analytics and insights certificate program?
Five, eight-week terms are offered throughout the year with entry points in August, October, January, March and June.

What is the admission process?
Each student must complete an online application and have a bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited institution. Official transcripts from your degree-granting institution is required and should be mailed directly from your school to:

In addition to the required transcripts, a professional resume must also be submitted to gradbusiness@rockhurst.edu. The resume should detail professional work experience and include any relevant technical skills (Excel, SQL, Programming, etc.).
Can I fit a certificate into my busy life?
All analytics and insights certificate tracks are designed with you — the working professional — in mind. That’s why we offer both on-campus and online program options. On-campus classes meet after your workday ends in the evening, 5:45 to 9 p.m., once per week. With courses that are only eight weeks long, you’ll earn your certificate at a pace that works for you.

Is the Analytics and Insights Certificate affordable?
The total 2018-19 certificate program cost is about $8,820, excluding technology fees, prerequisite credits and course materials. With the average cost of a master’s degree at more than $40,000, this certificate program is an affordable option that can lead you to success.
Can I complete my projects using my current company’s data and analytic tools?
You are encouraged to use coursework to solve relevant business problems. We want you to use the programs and data relevant to your career as much as possible. If that’s not an option for you, don’t worry. We also offer the option of obtaining data sets from your Helzberg School instructors.
What if I do not have proficiency in R, Python, programming and/or statistics?
The Helzberg School of Management offers the following courses to get you ready for the Analytics and Insights Certificate programs:
- BIA 6201. Statistics and Machine Learning (2 credit hours)
This intermediate level class covers multiple and logistic regression methods including correlation, residual analysis, analysis of variance, and robustness. These topics will be studied from a data analytic perspective using business examples. The class also explores multivariate models as they relate to problems encountered in data and text mining. Prerequisite: Introductory statistics and knowledge of the R computing Language. - BIA 6314. Databases for Analytics (2 credit hours)
This course that details database design, normalization and query methods that are pertinent for analytics. Topics will include relational databases, SQL, data warehouse architecture, data marts and data lakes. Further investigation will include cloud computing options, APIs and emerging forms of databases. The emphasis is placed on the use of these infrastructures and architectures for analytics. Prerequisite: Introductory course in programming or computer science. - BIA 6202S. Analytics & Computational Programming (2 credit hours)
This is an introductory course in programming in the Python and R languages. Fundamentals of program design, data types, control structures, use of external libraries, integrated development environments, and notebook computing environments will be covered. The full programming design cycle of problem analysis, data gathering, coding, debugging, maintenance, and documentation will be included.
