Students Who Transfer to Rockhurst in the 2024-2025 Academic Year and Beyond
A student who transfers to Rockhurst and is not majoring in nursing with either a completed Associate of Science (hereafter AS) degree or Associate of Arts (hereafter AA) degree from a regionally accredited college or university, a completed Bachelor of Art (BA) or a completed Bachelor of Science (BS) from a regionally accredited university or college or with a completed Missouri CORE 42 (C42) from a regionally accredited two- or four-year participating institution will not complete the lower-division courses of the Foundation of the Rockhurst Wisdom Core Curriculum. However, the student will complete the remaining elements of the Wisdom Core.
BA, BS, AA, and AS Degrees and C42:
For students who have completed an AA, AS, BA, or BS, or have completed the C42 program:
- All college-level courses transferred from accredited programs to Rockhurst University will be accepted for credit.*
- All lower-division Foundation requirements are considered completed.
- Students will still need to satisfy Wisdom Core elements that can only be satisfied at Rockhurst University:
- The Cornerstone Seminar
- Keystone and Threshold designated upper-division courses
- One upper-division Philosophy or Theology and Religious Studies course
- Prerequisites for upper-division PL or TH/RS courses are waived
- One upper-division Philosophy or Theology and Religious Studies course
- Students will still need to satisfy Wisdom Core elements that can only be satisfied at Rockhurst University:
- Students may be required by programs to complete lower-division prerequisites if not satisfied by transferred courses
*Note: Courses that are remedial, preparatory, or non-college-level will not be added to the total hours or used to satisfy degree requirements. The Registrar’s Office will refer to the transcript key or catalog of the sending institution in deciding the level or purpose of the course in question.
Nursing Transfer Students
A student who transfers to Rockhurst and is majoring in nursing will follow the following plans depending on the degree plan:
- ABSN students will not complete the Wisdom Core as they have already earned a baccalaureate degree and, therefore completed their “core” or general education courses.
- RN-BSN students will not complete the Wisdom Core Requirements.
- Transferring Traditional BSN students entering the nursing program as juniors complete a modified Wisdom Core. This modification will ensure the nursing students receive core content without increasing credit hours which is a barrier to current accreditation requirements. This will continue to be reviewed and analyzed.
- NUR 3160 Introduction to Nursing will be revised to meet the Cornerstone course.
- Keystone and Threshold designated upper-division courses to be developed within the nursing curriculum.
Theology and Philosophy will develop a zero-credit hour upper-level course to be offered in the nursing program and required by all transferring traditional BSN students. The content will be delivered as determined by the departments but will be equivalent to three hours of load credit for both faculty and students.
