Rockhurst Accepting Finucane Service Scholarship Applications
Incoming (first-year or transfer) students who have exhibited a commitment to community service are encouraged to apply for the Finucane Service Scholarship. This renewable $1,500/year scholarship is named after Fr. Bill Finucane, SJ, legendary director of campus ministry at Rockhurst University, who inspired students to engage our surrounding neighborhood in fellowship and service.
Recipients are leaders in service and, as such, are expected to continue their service leadership during their time at Rockhurst. Annual requirements include:
- Maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA.
- Complete and record (through Rockhurst Engage) at least 30 hours of community service. The service must be completed:
- Between August and May of each academic year
- Within the KC Metro area and/or through Rockhurst University programs (i.e., Solidarity-Immersion Trips)
- Successfully invite at least one Rockhurst University student to complete at least three hours of community service with you.
- Attend a dinner meeting (spring semester) with other Finucane and Miller Family Scholarship recipients to reflect upon the year of service.
Upon fulfillment of these requirements, this scholarship will be renewed for up to four consecutive years of full-time undergraduate enrollment. Apply through the Rockhurst University Applicant Portal. Please contact the Office of Admission at admission@rockhurst.edu or 816-501-4100 with questions.
The application deadline is 11:59 p.m. on February 1, ahead of the student’s first fall semester.
